Farfetch: Celebrating Love With Luxury

11/02/2019
BY Anum Bashir

It's that time of year again when Hallmark breathes down our necks, with many of us out and about shopping in the name of love and romance, or is that just an excuse to engage in a little retail therapy? I've never been big on Valentine's Day celebrations mainly because Waqas wasn't/isn't either. The holiday always seemed a tad too forced and fluffy for our taste, until recently, when I started to look at it a little differently. Forget flowers, chocolates, and plush animals, "Why not be my own Valentine this year, and indulge in some seriously enviable fashion?" I thought to myself.

Author George Sand once said, "There is only one happiness in life: to love and be loved." It's a shame he never got to spend time shopping on Farfetch!

Benching my 2019 resolution of avoiding impulse lavish purchases, I'm looking forward to a little self-indulgence, and realized that the ideal place to start putting a wishlist together is Farfetch! After all, how could I possibly say, "No" to another pair of shoes?

Together we've teamed up to bring you a Desert Mannequin edit of things to consider buying if all you want to do is celebrate love: be it that of fashion, yourself, or someone you love. Farfetch is in the business of making you feel good and the holiday will be no exception.

Here are the pieces (organized by category) that I've been lusting after ever since I made myself a bowl on popcorn, got cozy on my couch, and landed on the Farfetch homepage. Up and coming brands like By Far shoes, Ganni, Jacquemus, NDUO, and Muun (to name a few) are available in abundance, and what I always love about shopping on the site is that I've almost always found pieces in my size.

FOR SHOES:

I'm currently in the market for anything by By Far, Jacquemus, Maryam Nassir Zadeh, and Prada which the site stocks quite heavily. The colorful suede kitten heels, mules, mary janes, and boots are a current DM favorite. Practical footwear is important and I need to be able to wear a single pair of shoes for at least 8 hours a day. These brands have aced the litmus test and I'll always be coming back for more.

FOR BAGS:

Since it's always bright and sunny in Dubai, I'll always advocate you gals invest in a cute and sturdy straw or woven handbag. Muun makes great ones that are equal parts chic and practical. They pair well with anything from a tailored suit to a fun prairie style dress.

For a more luxurious option, I've been pining after the Prada Sidonie Bag in almost any color way. It's the right size that I'm going for lately with it not being too big or too small. Yup, I sound like Goldilocks, but a girl wants what a girl needs.

FOR CLOTHES:

I really like what's going on with brands like Loewe, Khaite, Jacquemus, Ganni, and of course N-DUO (a Tbilisi based brand where I'm currently a Co-Creative Director at). Big billowy eclectic aesthetics speak the most to my style sensibilities at the moment. I want to be able to purchase clothes that will live in my closet for years to come. Remember it's important to consume responsibly and bring down that cost per wear.

I've long put behind me my days of exclusively pursuing trend pieces which has actually made my wardrobe more wholesome, mature and timeless. Don't get me wrong a little fun and drama is always welcome. And for that reason I selected a fringed skirt by Jacquemus, our Dance Through The Meadows dress by N-DUO, a classic with a twist white button-down by Loewe, a romantic billowing skirt by Simone Rocha (which would make for an ideal date night piece), a fringed leather jacket by Ganni, along with a pair of dark flared denims (for a pinch of retro flavor).

Add to cart, add to cart, and let's get to shopping!

Happy Valentine's Day. You're sure to love what you'll find on there.
